ABERDEEN POLICE OFFICER EARNS CERTIFICATION
TO CONDUCT CHILD CAR SEAT INSPECTIONS
ABERDEEN TOWNSHIP (8/5/09) – Sergeant Theodore Sigismondi of the Aberdeen Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit has earned certification as a standardized child passenger safety technician (CPST) from the National Child Passenger Safety Certification Training Program.
Sgt. Sigismondi completed a five day course which combined classroom instruction, hands-on work with car seats and vehicles, and a community safety seat checkup event, where attendees demonstrated proper use and installation of child restraints and safety belts and then taught those skills to parents.
Aberdeen residents can schedule an appointment to have their children’s car seats inspected by calling Sgt. Sigismondi at (732) 583-4200 ext. 222 or via e-mail at ted.sigismondi@aberdeennj.org.
The National Child Passenger Safety Certification Training Program certifies individuals as child passenger safety technicians and instructors. Tens of thousands of individuals have been certified since the program began in 1997. CPS technicians and instructors put their knowledge to work through a variety of activities, including child safety seat checks where parents and caregivers receive education and hands-on assistance with the proper use of child restraint systems and safety belts.
